UNWTO Inspiring Africa – The Branding Challenge welcomes key players from the marketing and branding sector to introduce their proposals for a campaign that places Africa in the minds of travelers as a destination.

The initiative, leaving COVID-19 behind, seeks to build a positive picture of Africa as a destination for tourism that promotes the efforts of individual countries and corporations. It aims to make tourism a development driver through saying lots of positive stories about Africa . It also seeks to
- Place Africa at the forefront of the international tourism market;
- Advise the positive, rich and vibrant stories about Africa;
- Engage African residents to share good values;
- Generate a positive impact via tourism on the communities;
- Beyond COVID: outputs are projected to add a solid brand perception that will support recovery and provide a strong brand image that is sustainable.

Eligibility Criteria
Proposals should meet the following criteria:
- Innovative and inspiring;
- Focusing on Africa but ultimately adaptable regionally and to internationally;
- Relevant in the current context of COVID-19 recovery and in the medium term;
- Integrating innovative technologies and digital tools (mobile, virtual reality, IoT, big data, etc.);
- Open to any possible public-private partnerships;
- Pressure sustainability and community engagement;
- Enable Africa’s economic development and investment-attraction strategies;
- Showcase and celebrate the rich biological and cultural diversity of Africa;
- Demonstrate Africa’s innovations and achievements, and celebrate them.
Selection Criteria
- UNWTO requirements for the screening;
- A panel of experts Assessment and selection of up to 10 finalists;
- Winning nomination.
