Man vs. Woman: How Do Their Styles Are Different?

Men and women have worked side by side for a long time now, having meetings together, solving the same problems, working on projects together, but their experience in the workplace is very different from each other.

A study has conducted that women and men are treated differently in the workplace. This means that men enjoy more favorable conditions although they’re benefiting from the same set of rights with women.

Here are some of the differences that men and women often experience:

  • Men have more access to promotions, challenging tasks, and leadership positions, something that makes women in senior levels feel that their gender will make it harder for them to advance in the future.
  • The confidence level in men is higher than that in women due to their higher potential of raises and advancement.
  • Women often experience a gender wage gap in the workplace even when performing the same tasks but in different positions
  • Women work 10 percent harder than men in today’s offices
  • Women are assigned 10 percent more work than men these days
  • There is an implicit bias that proves that men are intellectually superior to women and that a study shows that when a job requires someone of intellect, women had a 25.3 percent lower probability of being appointed.

Women who exhibit “masculine traits” (aggressiveness/ confidence) and can self-monitor their behavior received 1.5 more promotions than men exhibiting similar qualities.

Men continue to dominate in the jobs arena, despite the significant headway being made by women in today’s offices. Things are still dire for many of them, and especially women of color and low-income women.

Good employers take care of these matters by tending to explicit and implicit bias based on gender differences in the work environment, which helps secure against these increasingly outright behaviors. Hiring and recruitment is one area where you can really make a difference.

So pushing for change at work to protect these women and treating equality as a business priority, since it should be one, is one way to reduce biases in these areas.
