Hypnosis, essentially, is a condition of deep relaxation of mind and body that can assist us in coping with stress and anxiety. It has therapeutic benefits on our mind since it can be a very powerful key that allows us to experience a state of complete transformation. We can mold our mindset to weed a negative belief or even change certain lifelong issues and habits like quitting smoking, getting better sleep, stop biting our nails, or to get the motivation to go on a diet or even control pain.
Now the question that many people are asking is “Can I hypnotize myself without the need of a hypnotist or recordings?”
Self-hypnosis is possible. It’s the action of unlocking your own mind and relinquishing your consciousness. Diving deep into a state of subconsciousness, you can notice how relaxed your body is and how drawn you can possibly become towards focusing on what you need, guiding your thoughts to achieve wanted results.
If you want to rewire your mind again, experience a trance state of mind, and improve your mindset and behavior, anytime, anyplace, for free, here is what you need to know.
- When hypnotizing ourselves, we exploit a technique called autosuggestion, whose primary use is for self-improvement and personal growth. In order to undertake subconscious changes, we have to allow our brain to reach what we call Alpha-Theta State, the realm of your subconsciousness. These brain waves, Alpha and Theta, operate within a frequency range of 5 to 8 cycles a day and 9 to 14 cycles a day, respectively, dealing with a situation of daydreaming and deep relaxation.
- Allowing ourselves to reach the Alpha state can induce amazing levels of creativity, greater relaxation, and higher learning abilities. And in theta, our senses are withdrawn from the outside world and fixated on signals coming from within. Together, they can provide us with a feeling of inner healing and peace.
There are several different self-hypnosis techniques that can help you take an in-depth look at your subconscious mind and induce a light trance, according to Grace Smith. He presents some of these steps and techniques that he shared in his book “Close Your Eyes, Get Free: Use Self-Hypnosis to Reduce Stress, Quit Bad Habits, and Achieve Greater Relaxation and Focus.”
- Follow these steps:
- Notice your starting stress level from 0 – 10 (10 being the highest).
- Close your eyes.
- Take five deep and slow breaths.
- Imagine a color you love, say the color to yourself, and now imagine it flowing through your body from head to toe.
- Very slowly repeat to yourself, “three, I am going deeper and deeper,” “two, I am going deeper and deeper,” “one, I am going deeper and deeper.”
- Very slowly repeat to yourself three times the following Hypno affirmations: “I am safe, I am calm, I choose to relax.”
- Imagine the same color you love, say the color to yourself, and now imagine it flowing through your body from head to toe.
- Imagine you are experiencing the state you desire. For example, if you were feeling scared, imagine yourself feeling confident. For the next 60 seconds, imagine yourself thinking, feeling, and behaving the way you desire to think, feel, and behave.
- One last time, imagine that color you love, say the color to yourself, and now imagine it flowing through your body from head to toe.
- Notice your new stress level from 0-10 (0 is the most relaxed you can be).
Hypnosis has many proven advantages, from helping people overcome breakups to relieving anxiety. If you ever questioned yourself, then you know how frustrating it could be. So always remember, You Are Enough. If we change our beliefs, then we can drop self-doubt and instead build self-confidence and courage to go after what we truly want from life.
